Vision Trips are short-term mission trips that have two focuses.  One is training and equipping.  We build a team of professionals who specialize in either medicine, dentistry, optometry, or mechanics who will train indigenous Christ-followers on the ITEC tools.  In a few days time, a basic knowledge of these skills will be acquired that will allow that Christ-follower to have a door opener for the Gospel into a place where they might not have otherwise had a chance.  This allows them to go and meet immediate felt needs before sharing the Gospel.  The other focus of the trip is for people to participate and be exposed to missions being done in this way.  This is the Vision portion of the trip.  It is hard to believe that the skills many professionals spent years in school to be able to practice in the United States can safely be taught in a matter of days, but it is possible.  If you feel that God is leading you to rethink your current mission strategy, or that you would like to see that this is possible, please consider joining our team for the next trip.

Vision Trip Team to Ecuador - March 2011

March 2011 - we led a church group from Birmingham, AL down to Ecuador to be exposed to how I-TEC focuses on empowering indigenous people with door openers for the Gospel.  We partnered with CEMIM, a seminary program on the edge of the Amazon Rainforest designed to train God-followers living in the Amazon, to equip students with door openers for sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.  This trip was very unique because the instructors consisted of both North Americans and Ecuadorians teaching both North Americans and Ecuadorians.  After two days of classroom training that included I-Dent, I-See, I-Fix, and I-Med, we travelled into the jungles to the village of Anquash, where the indigenous God-followers were in the driver’s seat.

As the team departed for home, several team members reflected on the trip, realizing that everything that had been done during the trip would continue long after the team had returned home.

This is the idea behind Vision Trips.  We want to empower and equip local Christ-followers with practical tools that they can continue to use after we are gone to reach their own people with the love of Christ.
